Native Plant Nursery Portal

The Client

Native Plant Nursery is a grower of regional native plant species located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  The nursery also provides native plant landscape design and restoration services in their area.

The Challenge

The Native Plant Nursery's previous web site worked well but was created using older technology that did not provide a modern interface for managing the site's content.  The nursery had also amassed an extensive collection of photographs and data about their plants that would serve well to promote their business if it could be presented on their web site.

The Solution

Huron Data Solutions has created a new web site for the Native Plant Nursery based on the Plone CMS.  The content of the new site is fully manageable through a web-based interface allowing easy updates to the site.  The layout of the new site integrates the nursery's product data with their vast library of photographs to help promote their business to new customers.  Of particular interest on the site is the "Plant Navigator" feature which allows the Native Plant Nursery's clients to sort and view all Michigan native plants based on a faceted category selection interface.

The new Native Plant Nursery web site is still under development and has not yet launched pending the development of a new graphical site theme.  The draft site provides an exceptional example of a data intensive web site that is easy to use and informative to the end user.
